My town

Had the privilege of taking our visiting French scholar on a ramble through Shanghai today, and I think we did pretty well. We started at Dongjiadu church, walked past a bare-bones fabric market in the remnants of old Shanghai, then checked out bookstores on Fuzhou Road, before a peek at Pudong, noting a monument to military women behind the Three Self Patriotic Movement's "red cathedral" and, in the adjacent park, dancers practicing with fans. All of these are places I've been before, some in my first weeks here - great fun to thread them together like this.
