Judaism to go

As I was sitting in my favorite cafe near school this morning, a convoy of rented campervans went by. I dashed out to the street with my camera, but needn't have hurried, as many more were yet to come - many many! Indeed, I've just learned that the Mitzvah Tank Parade commemorates the birthday of Rebbe Schneerson, 107 this year (sort of), and there are 59 vehicles in all! What was most incongruous was not that the Lubavichers were on the roads with slogans but the camper vans themselves, from a company called Cruiseamerica.com and with pictures of great American scenery on them. Who goes camping in the city? I sort of get it for Sukkot, but out of context it was like a latter day wagon train!
