Can you spot a green lorikeet in this blooming gum tree? (You can't see much more than its head.) It was one of the few not adding to the deafening din of bird chatter as the sun rose over one of the man-made lakes near my sister's place in Shepparton on Monday.(I post this picture in part as an antidote to the pictures the gun-toting Virginia Tech killer took of himself which are all over the internet news sites. Do we need to see them? Apart from surely adding to the trauma of survivors and the family and friends of victims, it only makes it more likely that some other disturbed person will someday follow in his footsteps.)
